L’histoire d’ATI Sports left on a whim.
Après mon accident j’ai voulu retrouver en 2006 un sport qui correspondait le mieux avec ce que j’avais connu valide. Ancien moniteur de snowboard en association et un peu casse coup même ans 50 passé, je n’étais pas calmé et je voulais me sentir vivant, en cherchant sur le net, j’ai trouvé le ski nautique assis et le Wake assis.

Voulant m’équiper dans ces disciplines et voyant le peu d’offre et surtout les délais d’attente, des matériels. Ingénieur mécanicien de métier, j’ai pris mon petit ordinateur et je me suis mis à réfléchir sérieusement sur l’existant, je me suis vite aperçu que nous étions encore à l’aire préhistorique de ces sports. J’avais jeté mon dévolu en 1er lieu sur le ski nautique assis qui me paraissait un peu plus accessible que le wake assis car vraiment les choses n’avaient pas évolué dans le ski depuis sa création dans les années 85.

j’ai tout de suite perçu les limites du matériel existant et avec mon ami François Pacou, avec lequel j’avais eu l’occasion de travailler sur une machine à fabriquer des planches à voile des surfs et des kites, on a passé des heures à regarder les vidéos des uns et des autres que l’on trouvait sur les net pour analyser le geste et le matériel. Je me suis occupé de dessiner un châssis avec amortisseur muni d’une assise en forme de coque rigide et François de dessiner et fabriquer mes trois premiers skis. Mon 1er châssis a pu voir le jour grâce à José Rodriguez de la société ATI à Eybens en Rhône Alpes. ATI avait déjà une sensibilité aux sports handi puisque c’est cette société qui fabrique les plateformes d’escrime handi. Je lui ai exposé mon sujet, il m’a écouté et m’a dit ok ! « Je le fais mais ! on en fait pour tout le monde et on les vend ». « Tu développes le matériel l’activité et en contrepartie je te fais ton matériel ». Une poignée de main et trois apéros plus tard l’aventure commençait. La société Ambois Orthopedie de Fontaine amie d’ATI s’est occupée des assises que nous proposons aujourd’hui sous différents formats (personnalisée ou non) et matériaux (Pe, Carbone, fibre).
En France, le ski a connu son heure de gloire dans les années 90 et l’équipe était conséquente. Bien que nous ayons toujours une Championne du monde de la spécialité Delphine Le Sausse, les amateurs de ce sport fantastique de rigueur et de précision mais peut-être un peu trop élitiste, ne se sont pas sentis plus enclin que cela de venir grossir les rangs du Ski Nautique Assis Français. Il m’a donc fallu comme je ne savais pas en faire, apprendre en même temps que faire évoluer mon matériel, c’était un peu gonflé !
Je me suis entraîné sur le Plan d’eau du Bois français et continuer à progresser. Chez ATI, L’énergie qui nous animait à l’époque à donner naissance à un dépôt de marque « ATI sports » et à la naissance de notre site Commerçant : www.Ati-sport.com ainsi qu’une gamme de matériel pour le ski nautique qui permet aux clubs d’avoir avec le même ski et châssis la possibilité de faire skier bon nombre de morphologie (réglable en largeur).

With this equipment in place, and with the aim of always offering exceptional equipment, we decided to work on the seated Wake. Bastien Perret, who is surely the best known French Wakeux by organizing courses all over France, gave me the opportunity to learn this sport at the Natural Wake Park, his garden.
I received some well deserved jeers because I had wanted to learn with a derivative of our chassis mounted on a Wake, a mistake not to be made... This sport is of a "violence" without name, we are immediately catapulted on or under water and I also saw that it required a specific equipment that the position was not that of the ski and that a chassis of seated Wake had to be at the same time very strong and comfortable what would allow the grip of the modules in full safety. Emmanuel Guillon and Jérôme ElbrychtTwo of the true French values of this sport helped me a lot in their perception of the Wake Assis and their point of view as well as the observation of their gestures confirmed me in the idea that a good Wake Assis chassis must be participative in the practice of this sport.

I did some calculations, some synthesis of "crobars" and material resistances to optimize the weight of a dynamic chassis, and this gave birth to a first version of our seated wake chassis that really saw the light of day in its completed version last season.
Not being the best rider in the world and far from it, I entrusted the task to two people who best represent in our eyes, the clientele for whom our products are intended. A young rider Adam Hamama who is now under contract to represent ATI sports and run under our colors and Stéphane Vincent which is perhaps more representative of the rider who works during the week but who remains assiduous of the Sunday wake to have fun with the buddies and not necessarily in a spirit of competition.
Today we propose, as for seated water-skiing, a specific model for learning which is aimed at Wake parks and water-skiing clubs who want to equip themselves. This model has the functionality of being able to accommodate without changing the seat, riders from size 36 to 42 which represents the vast majority of people with disabilities.

At Ati sport, we are proud to build French see Rhone Alpine and to answer at best to all the problems of sport and technical adaptation that are submitted to us. We can, if we wish, make adaptations for all sports, because we have a recognized competence in sports seating and with our ally Ambrois Orthopédie, we equip today, in addition to seated Wakes, seated Basketters, seated Rugby players and also Hockey players and of course skiers, whether it is for snow or water sports. I am working on the adaptation of a specific cushioned seat for a classic mountain bike, a real challenge because it is necessary to be able to move the centers of gravity according to the terrain and when you don't have legs....
Our concern is the comfort of the sportsman, we use the most successful products and besides the known ones, we are constantly looking for improvement of our proposals. The latest, a comfortable waterproof washable cushion that can go on the wheelchair as well as on the rider's shell and uses memory foam because when the rider gets out of the water all wet, he has no other alternative than to wet his seat. Three quarters of the handicapped leave their cushion in the car and use the chair without a seat during the session... a very uncomfortable situation.
In another domain, I had a designer from our region design a rain poncho that allows you to stay under a torrential rain without having a drop of water on your legs or back. This product is made in a derivative of French Gore-tex® which is anti water-repellent and anti perspirant. We can find equivalents in vulgar pvc at the same price.
Our objectives are not only commercial, we will propose this year a free test session of our wake frames on a Rhône-Alpes ski lift: ATI sports
We are in to talk about partnership to offer a real service within the French Federation of Water Ski and Wake Board (FFSNW). I myself am involved as a personal representative of the Auvergne Rhône Alpes league and I try to bring my modest contribution to the development of our sports in this magnificent region by organizing boat discovery sessions. This year, we won a prize with the Gosport chain of stores which unanimously praised the quality of our work as well as the effort and the listening we offer. This award follows a first one we received in 2013 concerning the ski activity; award that honored the comfort of our frames.
