MASTERCRAFT XSTAR 2018 - the most beautiful wake wave ?
I was recently invited by Mastercraft Switzerland to a magical day that they organize every year. It's the starting point of their season in a way. On this occasion they had brought out the muscles because there was not only one boat in the water but three! And what's more, three Mastercraft Xstar 2018.
I don't know if you remember the trailer for this boat, it spoke volumes about its capabilities.
I am therefore proposing to you today a review of the Mastercraft XSTAR 2018 in real conditions with the participation of the Swiss Mastercraft team for the show. For me, this is the most luxurious and performing boat I've ever been on and when you are offered to test 3 different ones, you don't want to refuse...
The review - Mastercraft Xstar 2018
Here are the 3 beasts, the engineers at Mastercraft started from a blank sheet to elaborate the flagship of the brand. It measures 7m without the bathing platform for a width of 2.55m and can accommodate 16 people on board. For Switzerland, the legislation brings the limit to 13 occupants.
It has a ballast capacity of 1850 liters that can be filled and emptied in less than 3 minutes by means of powerful pumps.
You have the choice of 3 engines that are characteristic of the brand, the 6L ILMOR with 382hp, the 6.2L with 430hp or the 7.4L with 522hp. All V8 engines.
It is the only 5-star rated marine engine in the world thanks to its low fuel consumption.
The Look
I love the wavy windshield that gives it a bit of a vintage feel. This is also reinforced by the chrome accents around the boat.
In terms of finishings, you are in the very high end. Once at the helm of this boat, you realize that you are in a floating lounge. Everything is controllable, you even have the camera in addition to the panoramic mirror to have a live feedback and be even more precise in the piloting. You can choose the color of the stitching on your seats in addition to the color of the seats. You have an incalculable choice of hull colors available.
L’aspect pratique
The seats can be transformed in a few seconds. You can even turn them into a giant bed for your private naps. There's plenty of room for everyone's stuff. It is full of space. The manufacturer announces 3.5m3 of storage space.
Everything is so simple on board, in a few seconds you lower the tower and raise it again despite its weight.
What made my eyes shine was its multiple screens, its GoPro attachment on the tower which is super well thought out and the remote control which is on the back deck of the boat which allows you to control your music before going to ride its wave!
The wave (wakeboard / Wakesurf)
In wakeboarding the wave is just impressive and to think that in the presentation video they were doing double-ups to get more height.
In wakesurfing, the wave is long and wide, which gives you a very appreciable riding surface. You will be able to evolve on a large playground. Again, everything is configurable and you can also save your settings to save time if you ride the boat with others. You don't have to worry about which side the rider is going to ride on. Just press a button and the wave goes from goofy to regular in a second.
